While there are plenty of things worth buying during the 4th
of July holiday, such as air conditioners, summer clothing, grills and patio
gear, not everything that goes on sale now is best deal.
Some things are worth holding off for a later date when
there is a better chance to score a better deal. Those things are:
Shoes
Yes, retailers usually drop prices on footwear during the 4th
of July holiday, but unless you’re in a real need to buy shoes, better hold off
until later into the summer, early into autumn when stores will be offering
deeper discounts.
It’s recommended you wait especially if you want to purchase
more expensive shoes because back-to-school deals that usually run from late
July into August often feature significant savings. If that’s too long, be sure
to wait at least until the week following Independence Day when shoe sales will
be rolling out more aggressively than now.
Laptops
As with shoes, laptops and subsequently tablets will be sold
with substantial price drops during back to school sales time. While there are
retailers that put out offers for a range of laptops and tablets now, you won’t
get best deals around this time.
The best you could do is snag a 10 to 15% off deal during
this year’s holiday but waiting until mid to late July might get you bigger
discounts and the chance to choose better priced laptops and tablets within a
much larger selection. If possible, wait until even later, until the month of
August if you want more aggressive discounts. Last year, retailers sold laptops
with up to 70% off prices until later into August.
Denim clothing
Some of the clothing that makes up older inventory will be
included in most promotions this Independence Day. And there are plenty of
retailers that have already begun to advertise discounts and sell denim
clothing cheaper than usual.
However, newer and newest jeans and denim collections will
be offered at more convenient prices, again, during back to school sale events.
Children’s clothing may be sold much cheaper from as early as August, but to
score steepest discounts, adults are better off holding until the fall season.
TVs
TVs are just one of those things on which most people want
to save as much as possible, especially when looking to buy the best and latest
in home cinema tech, which tends to be pricey.
Prices may drop on TV sets during 4th of July,
but because summer is generally not the time for good TV deals, if you can
wait, then do so. The best time for getting best TV deals is during Black
Friday and Super Bowl sales, both early in the year. That may be too long a
wait for some people, so another option is purchasing around November, which is
another time when retailers offer good prices on TVs and electronics.
Apple Devices
People often wait for big sale events to score deals on
iPhones and Apple devices, and the 4th of July discounts might be
encouraging. However, because Apple usually releases new products in the fall,
there’s a much better chance to purchase Apple gear more conveniently around
September.
Back to school deals, some of them already rolling, others just about, might offer lowered priced Apple devices, but your best bet is still buying in the fall.
